Despite using two of the most surefire bankruptcy tools known to man, an old VAG luxobarge and an older Italian sports car, I fear my family and I are still living in a house and not a box under an overpass or a van down by the river. What is there left for me to try?
Oh. Hello there.
That should do the trick!

As I have mentioned before, my uncle from whom I got the Alfa also owned a Phaeton and an old XJR at the same time. I aspire to outdo him in terms of sheer masochism. Unfortunately, I think tuition will have to come before a V12 Jag.

The 6 liter V12 is actually rather reliable. Far more modern ignition system, outboard brake rotors, and a GM 4 speed transmission. Just remove the cats (tend to cause engine fires) and replace the probably-rotted fuel lines (tend to cause engine fires, more brittle than most because V12s generate a lot of heat) and you’ll be fine.
I want one so damn bad.

How about all the electronics in the car?

The 6 liter was made ‘94-’96 I believe, and by that point the electronics were all Ford IIRC. Expect typical Ford-ness from them.

I definatley think it’s about time you try out British Leyland’s twelve cylinder Grand Tourer.

Ok.
Either way, this one’s a 5.3 from 1989, so it should be business as usual.

Yeah. That’s gonna catch fire pretty quickly.

Old Alfa and (tryna recall — Audi? Actually I’m kinda jealous of that fleet there)...see, the thing is, your life just isn’t complicated enough. Doooo iiiittt!!!
Cars only look that good at that age with a life of decent care. From one can take from jag-lovers.com these are no worse or different than any other old cars if one educates oneself on how to care for them and then does that (I’ve seen that thing about the cats off elsewhere btw).
So, the ad says 78 views and 2 saves nationwide over the past month, and maybe one of the saves was you. Show up with $7.5K and see what happens
(then post a pic!!)

You’re not even near classic boat territory.

The engine itself isn’t terribly unreliable, it’s the rest of the car around it. There’s also some weird packaging issues like how you have to remove an exhaust manifold to replace the alternator. There’s a 900 page pdf floating around the net assembled by shadetree mechanics that’s full of ways to trim time and effort off of various jobs vs the factory recommended procedures.

I like the Alfa, but I’ve already got one and that one looks a little to rough for me. Other two aren’t my thing.

Which is the 2nd one?

Alas, I think a few more tuition payments will have to come before an old Jaguar. But someday.

I like both of those.

W221 S65. Some time within the next few years or so. I’ll probably sell the S600 and try to pick up a R129 SL600.

I was mostly shooting for the fastest ways to deplete your wallet. The Alfa with the unreliability, and the Ford with gas. The Bradley just caught my attention because I’ve never seen one for sale before
